Stege is one of Denmark's old market towns and an authentic medieval town.

The harbour is located in the town and is a natural gathering place for various activities throughout the summer. Among other things, every Tuesday in July you can visit the 'Tuesday Market', where the entire town is transformed into a marketplace. In September, the nationally known "herring market" is held, which is especially known for its black herring.

Market-town spirit and specialty stores

Forget about big, bland shopping centres. Stege has the spirit of a true market town, and you can find everything within a 15-minute radius. Large supermarkets, discount chains and not least a myriad of interesting specialty retail, fashion and food stores. Stege offers a wide range of excellent places to eat, where local produce and authenticity are a recurring theme.

Ideal for hiking - visit the Camøno

Møn’s Museum is definitely worth a visit, for young and old alike. The hiking route "Camønoen - The Kingdom's friendliest hiking route" also passes through Stege, so put on your hiking shoes and get going. If you are into snorkelling and diving, you will find unique conditions when starting at Stege Harbour.

Møn UNESCO Biosphere

Møn and the surrounding islands and waters have been designated as Denmark's first and only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The UNESCO designation celebrates and recognizes that we have some of the world's most fantastic nature and a rich cultural heritage, where we locally make significant efforts to develop society in harmony with nature.

Dark Sky Møn & Nyord

It is exceptionally dark on Møn. On late summer nights, you can see the Milky Way as a broad milky-white band of light stretching across the sky and disappearing behind the horizon of the Baltic Sea. The unique darkness on Møn and Nyord has been designated by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) as the first Dark Sky Park and Dark Sky Community in the Nordic region.
