About the harbor

Welcome to Verdens Ende

“Verdens Ende” (World’s End) is the unusual name of the small municipal harbour that is located just under 2 km from Sønderborg Harbour. The marina is situated between King Christian X’s Bridge and Alssund Bridge. Verdens Ende is nestled in peaceful surroundings close to woodland and nature. Do not let this idyllic setting fool you; it is a bustling area, as many ships pass through the sound during the day, and several sailing clubs are based on the harbour at Verdens Ende.

Shopping opportunities

You can borrow bikes at the harbour if you wish to go shopping in town. The bikes are stored behind the harbour clubhouse. The nearest supermarket is just under 2 km from the marina. Just as close is the pedestrian street, which offers a wide range of shops and retail outlets, a bakery and much more.

If you are looking to buy sailing clothes, you will also find the local retailer, Ap Arte Sailware, in town.

Local sights

As an annual summer tradition, a festival of riding at the ring is held in every town in South Jutland, with the biggest of these festivals taking place in Sønderborg in early July.

In addition, some of Sønderborg’s major historical attractions, such as Sønderborg Castle and History Centre Dybbøl Banke, are within cycling distance. Go on a culinary adventure and sample South Jutland’s specialities and local produce at local shops and cafés. If you prefer the great outdoors, Als is surrounded by coastline and has several child-friendly Blue Flag beaches. Sønderskoven forest is just over 5 km away from Verdens Ende, within easy cycling distance. On Als, you will also find Denmark’s longest coastal forest, Nørreskoven Als.

Kids on board – activities for the whole family

The Sønderborg area offers a host of child-friendly attractions. These include the Universe Science Park, an interactive science park on North Als, which offers science and technology-based experiences and activities. Also popular is History Centre Dybbøl Banke, an interactive museum for children and adults where you get to be a part of history.

Pack your swimwear and head to Nordborg to take a dip in Northern Europe’s largest tropical water park, Canter Parcs Nordborg Resort. Here you will find, among other things, thrilling water slides, the Wild Water River and a number of other fun activities. Learn more

Visit the museum at Sønderborg Castle where you can join outdoor activities for children in the Castle Park all summer long.
