Nexø Harbor welcomes all visiting sailors to the five northernmost basins of the harbor.
The harbor's location, directly adjacent to Nexø's center and surrounded by restaurants, shops, museums, and craft galleries, provides an excellent setting with ample space for visiting sailors of all sizes.
The three northernmost of these basins, along with the old dry dock where the Bark Svanen is to be reconstructed, represent the only larger harbor in Denmark constructed from Nexø sandstone, which forms the bedrock the harbor has been carved from. Nexø Harbor is the island's largest fishing harbor, with opportunities to join local fishing boats. During the summer months, there is a passenger route to Poland and a week-long jazz festival throughout the city.
The town also offers a wide range of grocery and specialty stores, an active herring smokehouse, and a marine equipment store.
In the nearby area of the harbor, there are exciting places to visit, such as the fascinating Quarry Lake, which offers put-and-take fishing. Just north of the lake, you can stand with one foot over the Fennoscandian border zone and the other over Southern Europe's underground, with 1.1 billion years of history beneath your feet.
