KulturØen - Strib
The route from KulturØen to Strib follows the black clover path. It takes you along the coast of Lillebælt with views of the Old and New Little Belt Bridges. On Gl. Banegårdsvej you ride past the old NKT factory (Nordisk Kabel- og Trådfabrikker), which manufactured products such as nails and steel wire. Opposite you will see the property Tårnborg, which was built as rental accommodation for the factory workers. To the east of the small square on Industrivej is the town’s first railway station from 1865, and to the south a building which used to house the railway hotel. The large urns in front of the buildings are containers of acid previously used at NKT. The New Lillebælt Bridge opened in 1970 and was the first suspension bridge in Denmark. The two pylons are 118 m tall and support the main cables measuring 1.5 km in length. With a bit of luck, you may spot common porpoises on your ride along the coast to Strib. We suggest you stop at Strib Lighthouse and enjoy the view of Fredericia. In Strib you can do a detour to Strib Automobile Museum and have a bite to eat at the local butcher or baker, or you can choose to end your ride at one of Middelfart’s cafés or restaurants.
