Skansen Harbour is located 200 metres from Gammel Bogø Skanse (constructed in 1653), and a similar fortification was once located on the opposite side of Grønsund.
Skansen Harbour was most likely originally built as a landing jetty. In the 19th century, people were rowed or sailed back and forth between the western end of Bogø and Falster. It is presumed that landing jetties for communication and transport existed between the two fortifications from the time they were established.
Today, Skansen Harbour is a small, privately owned dinghy harbour (not a guest harbour) without facilities.
