Underwater exploits in the wreck of a fishing vessel

Under unknown circumstances, a small fishing vessel sank off Helsingør in the summer of 1991. Maybe it hides an exciting story – but in all probability, the ship was just worn-out.

The wreck is the vessel Twin, also known under the names the Donald Duck wreck (Danish: Anders And-vraget) and the PADI wreck. The vessel was 9.6 metres long and 3.5 metres wide.

The wreck is marked with a buoy, so if you want to explore it, it is easy to find.

Start from the boat hire in Helsingør, which you will find south of the ferry port. Twin is located only 150 metres from the coastline and 10-11 metres under the surface, so it is not a difficult dive. Be aware, though, that there may be strong currents in this part of the bay, often northerly.

Today, the wreck has folded in and the pilot house and anchor locker have disappeared altogether. Be careful if you get close to it – the wood is crumbling!

If you do not feel like actually diving in the area, you can see photos of the wreck at online wreck guide www.vragguiden.dk (website in Danish)
