Bomhuset

The toll house is Holstebro's oldest house from 1792 on only 32 m2. The toll house is built according to older Jutlandic building custom in market towns: red bricks, white washed joints and cornices and half hipped house ends.

From 1794, Bomhuset was a royal consumption house until the consumption duty in 1851 was abolished. This is where the "snuff rooster" ruled. The customs officer should charge customs of the goods that were brought to town. That's why he was publicly knows as the "snuff rooster".

In 1987, Bomhuset was set up as a Museum of Small Art, but it has ceased in autumn 2018.

The Bomhuset is closed for renovation.
