Vandhalla

Welcome to Denmark’s most accessible swimming centre

The port and ferry town Hou attracts people from near and far when the weather is good. But even on a rainy day, the water in Hou is an attraction. In Vandhalla, great experiences await for everyone who takes the water like a duck.

The centre is developed with an eye to giving the walking-impaired and wheelchair users an opportunity easy access to the swimming pools. Vandhalla has the only waterslide in Denmark that is accessible for disabled. Furthermore, Vandhalla has wheelchair-friendly access to the pools via a ramp at the side of the pool and a series of mobility aids that walking-impaired are welcome to use.

A swimming centre for everyone

Vandhalla offers great facilities for both families with children and those who swim for the exercise.

  • A 25-metre pool with four swimming lanes and a depth of water of 1.8 metres in the deep end.
  • 90-metre-long water slide. Take the stairs or the lift to the top where you will be rewarded with an amazing view. You can actually see all the way to the island Endelave. You can use the lift both from the top and bottom.
  • A heated pool with a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a height adjustable bottom.
  • Sauna and steam bath with access from the heated pool.

Stay a little longer – spend the night

Next to Vandhalla is Hou Sea Sport Centre (Hou Søsportcenter) with lots of disability-accessible holiday homes. The holiday homes are located in direct connection to the beach and coast where the Coastal Path Hou has disabled-accessible pavement which makes it possible to get around. This is your opportunity to combine the visit at Vandhalla with a lovely holiday at the coast.
