The harbor can be approached both day and night, and entering the harbor is straightforward.

Kolby Kås is no longer a ferry port—only a harbor of refuge. During the day, the old protected Kolby Mill in the hills northeast of the harbor serves as a good landmark.

Be aware of the current at the entrance, which can reach up to 1.5 knots. The central pier is reserved for ferry traffic, and the northern basin for cargo ships. The harbor may be unsettled with W and NW winds.
