Frederiksværk Marina is a Mecca for yachting families with its green spaces with room for lots of fun activities, playground, well-sheltered barbecue areas and cosy nooks with world-class views over the fjord. Great harbour amenities

The service building, harbour master’s office and sailor’s kitchen are within easy reach of each other. The playground is placed on a large lawn; here young crewmen can play around on the swings or slide while grown-ups enjoy their coffees and the fjord view from tables and benches nearby. Visitors to the marina may use the sailor’s kitchen free of charge; it is located in the building that also houses the public bathrooms.

Moorings for visiting yachtsmen

The visitors’ jetty is located at the innermost part of the marina, close to the service building and the playground. If your vessel has a deep draught, berths for mooring alongside are available right inside the harbour entrance, to the north. At the breakwater of the visitors’ jetty, you will find a cosy barbecue hut for your disposal.

Water activities all around

The marina was built in 1994 and was constructed as an island. Today, the marina has around 500 berths at its disposal, surrounded by water: The Arresø Canal, Roskilde Fjord and Ellingebugten (“Ellinge Bay”). Frederiksværk is an attractive marina for anglers, and if you feel like a dip in the sea, you can easily access the water on the north breakwater along the marina’s two bathing piers.

Denmark’s industrial town

If you sail for Frederiksværk, you will arrive in the middle of 250 years of Danish industrial history. The town has been appointed a national industrial heritage site and is unique due to its well-preserved buildings and machines at the Powder Works. Frederiksværk is often designated as Denmark’s first industrial town. It was founded by King Frederik V and over time, “Frederiks Værk” (“Frederik’s Creation”) became the official name of the town.

Local attractions

The majority of the attractions in Frederiksværk trace back to the town’s well-preserved industrial history. Visit the Frederiks Værk Museum of Industry or the Gjethuset Foundry – and exciting attraction for both young and old. Or go for a walk in the cosy historic market town, the town centre is a mere 2 km’s walk (1.4 miles) from the marina. Or go on a sail with the cabin cruiser MS Frederikke [ABN1] on Arresø, the largest lake in Denmark. If you are bringing your golf clubs, Asserbo Golf Club is located around 5 km (3.2 miles) from the marina.

Exploring North Zealand

Frederiksværk is located a short distance from interesting tourist attractions in North Zealand. The north coast is especially famed for its wide, white sandy beaches. We recommend taking the bus to the beach at Liseleje – one of the best in Denmark.

For auto campers

With a view to the beautiful Ellingebugten by the marina, auto campers can park on large spacious spaces. If the marker is green, it means that the space is available, even if there is a chain across. You may remove the chain yourselves.
