A yellow bathhouse and deep diving water
The yellow timber building sits right on the Lillebælt, on the Hindsgavl peninsula in Middelfart. From here you see the old Lillebælt Bridge span the strait, with the water just a few steps from the bench.
The spot is called Krupps Plads. Here, the steel beams for the Lillebælt Bridge were sandblasted and painted in a huge hall. The beams had been shipped here from the German Krupp company. Søbadet was built in 1935, and the building has since been restored; today it’s used by the local scouts, among others.
The beach is narrow, just 80 metres long, but the water deepens quickly. The spot often attracts divers, since from here you can make the longest wall dive in the Lillebælt. Down by the water is a green area with tables and benches, where you can eat your packed lunch and look out over the strait. On the other side of the building you’ll find parking and toilets.
