ARoS Aarhus Art Museum

A free space for art and creativity

The ARoS collection contains more than 8,000 works, including masterpieces by Danish and international artists.

Some of the most famous works are Olafur Eliasson's Your rainbow panorama (2011) and Ron Mueck's oversized sculpture; Boy (1999).

As Seen Below - The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell

From 19 June 2026, you can also experience As Seen Below, light artist James Turrell's largest Skyspace in a museum context. The monumental installation will cement ARoS' position as one of the world's leading museums for installation art.

Exhibitions and international perspective

Each year, ARoS presents six to eight major exhibitions with an accompanying programme of public lectures, debates and events. ARoS' international outlook and innovative approach has led to groundbreaking exhibitions with artists such as J.W.M. Turner, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Franciska Clausen, Salvador Dalí, Asger Jorn, Per Kirkeby, Barbara Kruger, Isaac Julien, Jenny Holzer, Bill Viola, Mariko Mori, Cindy Sherman and Sarah Sze.

More than 600,000 visitors come to ARoS every year for artistic experiences, to shop in the ARoS Store, dine in the ARoS Café and Orangery or simply enjoy its iconic architecture and location.

Practical information

ARoS is located in the heart of Aarhus and has entrances from Aros Allé/Vester Allé and via Officerspladsen.

  • Parking: Parking is available on Aros Allé, where the museum has 79 parking spaces.
  • The museum is closed on Mondays, except for Mondays in June, July and August, as well as on certain public holidays.
  • Admission is always free for everyone under the age of 18.
  • Accessibility: The museum has a lift leading up to the entrance beneath the stairs on Aros Allé, as well as lifts to all exhibition galleries and Your rainbow panorama. Disabled toilets are available on Levels 3, 4 and 8, as well as on Level 9 in the Roof Pavilion.
  • Wheelchairs are available on loan upon request at the Information Desk at ARoS.
