Close to the music, in the heart of nature
In summer, string quartets and piano pieces fill the halls of Hindsgavl Castle near Middelfart. Hindsgavl Festival brings together top classical musicians, young talents and living composers for days of chamber music. Concerts alternate between afternoon and evening performances in the castle's barn and stables.
You get even closer to the musicians if you stay overnight at the festival. In the morning you can hear them rehearse, and after the concerts audience and artists meet to talk about the evening's programme. The festival also provides a platform for newly composed music, placing classical chamber music in a new context and showcasing young talents from across Scandinavia.
The surroundings are part of the experience. The castle park stretches down to the Little Belt, and the deer park and surrounding forest invite you to walk or run between concerts. Each year the festival draws around 5,000 people, and selected concerts are broadcast on the radio to listeners across large parts of Europe.
