The Horsens Treasure Hunt

Treasure hunt in Horsens

Go for a fun walk around Horsens and experience the city in a whole new way. Along the way, the adventurous treasure hunters will be challenged with tasks and questions in the hunt for the much-desired Horsens gold medal.

First you must get your hands on a treasure map. I will gladly share my only copy with you so you can print it out. You could also pick one up at one of the museums on the route or at KiDS Coolshop in the shopping centre Bytorv Horsens.

The hunt starts in the middle of the pedestrian street Søndergade, and there are quite a few parking lots nearby by the way.

But beware - the route is 5,5 kilometres long, and both your legs and your mind will be challenged as you and your family try to solve the tasks. In a city shaped by its rich history, the exciting and secret stories emerge around every corner.

The treasure map helps you look for peculiar details and experience all the city's secrets. In this way, the treasure hunt becomes an adventure. And if you need a bit of help finding your way, you can follow this digital map along the route.

What do I have to do to get that medal?

Follow these simple steps to get the medal around your neck.

  1. Grab a free copy of the treasure map at KiDS Coolshop, the Industrial Museum, Horsens Museum, Horsens Art Museum or the Prison Museum (or print one out from home).
  2. Find all locations on the treasure map and solve the tasks.
  3. Hand in the treasure map to the nice people behind the counter at KiDS Coolshop
  4. Get your custom-made medal as a memory of your accomplishment

Have fun, and good luck to you on your quest.

The energy of the big city and the idyll of the village

Horsens is an old industrial prison city which has managed to use its colourful past to its advantage. The city is blooming with culture, art, entrepreneurship, music, gastronomy and nature. A charming city deeply rooted in its history. And you will feel this as you make your way around town with a treasure map in hand.

The newly-renovated city centre calls for life and activity in the streets. There is lots of opportunity to sit down and unwind in the snug corners and sidewalk cafes - both on the very wide pedestrian street and in the intimate side streets in the Latin Quarter all oozing with atmosphere.

One of seven medals

Did you know that there are a whopping seven treasure hunts in Kystlandet? Whoever gets all four medals is truely a great treasure hunter. In addition to the treasure hunt in Horsens, you can also walk around the lovely islands of Tunø, Hjarnø and Endelave, go troll hunting in Brædstrup, explore the cosy railway town Odder or go for an adventure in the ultimate seaport Juelsminde. Each treasure hunt is a cosy activity for the whole family and a hike between 4 and 8 kilometres long.
