Saksild Beach

One of Denmark’s best and most family-friendly beaches

Imagine a wide beach with soft, light sand, shallow and clear water – and peace for both play and relaxation. It’s no wonder that Saksild Beach is one of East Jutland’s most popular bathing beaches. Here you’ll find everything you need for the perfect beach day: beautiful nature, great facilities, and space for children, adults, and everyone in between.

Perfect for families with children

Saksild Beach is ideal even for the youngest visitors. The shallow water and gentle waves make swimming safe and fun, even for little ones just starting to explore the sea. Don’t forget the bucket and spade – there’s plenty of room for sandcastles and imaginative play. The beach also features a swing set with a sea view, where kids can have fun while parents relax in the sun.

Excellent facilities and focus on accessibility

The beach is easy to access – whether you’re bringing a pram, walker, or wheelchair. Special beach mats lead all the way down to and along the water, and the car park is only 50 metres away. During the summer months, the beach is supervised by lifeguards, and it proudly flies the White Bathing Flag with three stars – your guarantee of clean water, good hygiene, and high safety standards.

Active experiences by the water

If you’re looking for activity, there’s plenty on offer. At Saksild Strand Camping and Strandshoppen (the beach shop), you can rent paddleboards and kayaks. If you’d rather explore the area by bike, various types of bicycles are also available for rent – perfect for a trip along the coast or into the scenic hinterland.

You can read more about things to do, dining, and more around Saksild Beach on this page.

Everything you need for a full day at the beach

When hunger strikes, you’re never far from a good meal or a refreshing ice cream. Within walking distance of the beach, you’ll find ice cream stalls, cosy eateries, and shops. The beach is close to summer houses and the campsite, so even a day trip can feel like a mini holiday. We recommend a visit to Denmark’s oldest mini golf course, located in a peaceful summerhouse area just behind the beach.

Tempted by other beaches?

The Odder Coast boasts many beautiful beaches. Saksild’s wide sandy beach actually stretches 8 kilometres south to the ferry town of Hou. If you feel like exploring more, several other lovely beaches are just a few minutes away. Get an overview of all the area’s beaches here.
