Ølsted gravel pit
Ølsted Gravel pit was used for concrete extraction until it was closed down in 2002. The gravel pit wasn’t used after this, until a group of local enthusiast decided to give the old gravel pit a bit of a makeover.
Today the gravel pit has been converted to a nature park with paths in and around the gravel pit. The gravel pit contains a packed-lunch house, a birdwatching tower, an outdoor scene and a parking lot. There’s also shelters, a campfire, a waterpost and firewood, so you can sleep in the beautiful gravelpit.
At the top of the gravel pit, at 47 meters, you have a great view of Roskilde fjord, and Denmark’s biggest lake Arresø
