About the harbor

Welcome to Agger Harbour

Agger Harbour is located in the heart of the tourist district of Thy, right next to Denmark’s first-ever national park.

The small fishermen’s cottages along the quay and the thriving fishing industry give Agger Harbour its authentic harbour atmosphere.

The harbour is close to the windswept North Sea.

This means lovely sandy beaches and perfect conditions for kitesurfing. From the Thyborøn Canal, you can sail to Agger through Nissum Broad, where you can watch seals play in the Limfjord and marvel at the rich birdlife of the headland Agger Tange.

Fresh fish at the harbour

Agger Harbour is both a commercial harbour and a marina, with a dynamic shipyard as the harbour’s largest company. Within the harbour area, you will find a fishmonger’s and a marine centre.

Great harbour facilities

You will have access to kitchen and shower facilities. Just 1 km from the harbour, you will find shopping facilities and bike rentals.

Sights by the harbour

Visit Vestervig Church, the largest village church in the Nordic region, featuring Denmark’s oldest sundial embedded into the church wall. This is where tragic heroes Liden Kirsten and Prince Buris are buried, famous from a Danish folk ballad about the ill-fated couple who were only united in death.

The Black Houses

In Agger you can visit the beautiful, distinctive "Black Houses". Today, they house an exhibition on the history of Agger and the project to protect the coast against severe storms. The sea is harsh and has been eroding the coastline for centuries. Coastal protection was instituted in Agger towards the end of the 19th century, and the black houses served as the headquarters for the marine engineering department. Today, the black houses are also used for cultural events, music concerts and more.

Flavours, nature and local atmosphere

At the harbour, you can visit restaurant Agger Darling for lunch and dinner. If you are into fine dining, the Michelin-starred Restaurant Tri, run by former captain of the Danish national culinary team Nicolas Min Jørgensen, is located about 1 km from the harbour. The restaurant has both a green and a red Michelin star. Other good options are the restaurants Signalmasten and Vesterhavshytten on the North Sea coast in Agger.

The area has two holiday centres: Danland Agger Havn and Agger Tange holiday centre. The Danland holiday centre is located right by the harbour. Here, guests can stay in apartments while enjoying the seaside atmosphere with views of the fjord and the sea. This holiday centre features, among other things, a tennis court, a swimming pool and a mini-golf course.

Just a few metres from the harbour you will find Krik Vig Camping and Cabinpark, located right on the edge of Thy National Park. This is the perfect setting for immersing yourself in nature, enjoying the rich birdlife and wildlife, or trying your hand at the many outdoor activities the area has to offer.
