Welcome to Haarum Harbour
Haarum Harbour is a small, charming boat harbour located at Nissum Bredning, with direct access to the Limfjord. The harbour is a paradise for anglers, offering great opportunities to catch fish, lobsters, and other shellfish. From the harbour, you can enjoy a stunning view of Nissum Bredning, Harboøre Tange, and the impressive wind turbines. To the southeast, you can also spot the natural area of Kappel near Lemvig and Gjellerodde.
Haarum Harbour is situated just east of Harboøre and borders the protected wildlife reserve of Haarum, where a rich variety of wildlife thrives. Here, you can experience deer and a diverse birdlife, including wading birds such as avocets, lapwings, and redshanks. The scenic surroundings offer nature trails and gravel roads that invite you to take leisurely walks in the area.
The harbour, originally built in 1921, has a rich history as a vital resource for local fjord fishermen. After the harbour became silted up and was abandoned in the 1960s, the area became home to many bird species. A few years ago, local residents revived the harbour, and today Haarum Harbour boasts 20 fishing huts and 37 boat berths, all occupied by local fishermen and boat owners.
The restoration of the harbour has not been without challenges, but thanks to local support and perseverance, Haarum Harbour continues to thrive as an important part of the local community and a beautiful example of the area's proud fishing traditions.
